Job description

The Business Development & Training Manager for Kendo Brands is a field-based role responsible for driving retail sales through the execution of the Kendo Retail Strategy & Education programs. This role brings brand DNA, storytelling, and product passion to life at the store level across all retail distribution channels. As a Brand Ambassador and inspirational coach, the Business Development & Training Manager will develop and grow the KENDO business through a hands-on approach, delivering our brands' unique points of difference and driving KPIs with exceptional product knowledge, artistry skills, skincare techniques, service standards, eventing and selling behaviours.

Driving Sales:

  • Drive sales in the area, build relationships with counter and store management, optimize in-store merchandising, and brand presentation.
  • Understand opportunities within the area and strategize with the Regional Manager to develop business plans and special events.
  • Lead by example and role model selling behaviours, techniques, and training in-store through coaching and development.
Training, Artistry & Product Expertise:

  • Hire, onboard, and manage retail teams to drive sales and support KENDO brand portfolio and products.
  • Train retail teams on product knowledge, advanced artistry skills, and selling behaviors.
  • Deliver inspirational in-store training sessions and create engaging video content.
  • Support growth in core brand franchises and new launches across all stores.
  • Ensure best-in-class customer experience through effective service and selling techniques.
Team Development:

  • Coach and develop direct reports to generate sales through training and sales support in-store.
  • Develop talent and capabilities of retail teams through 1-1 engagement and regular coaching sessions.
  • Maximize team selling effectiveness through consistent in-market visits, leading by example, and providing recognition and feedback.
  • Collaborate with Field Teams to develop best practices and drive team performance.
  • Implement appraisals and development programme with retail teams and agree scoring for review with Regional Manager
Store Selling Events:

  • Drive brand KPIs and support sales goal achievement for store events.
  • Support in-store and retailer-led events to ensure brand standards and guidelines are met.
  • Collaborate with the field sales team to conceptualize seasonal events and masterclasses.
Operational:

  • Stock Management Support: Oversee inventory levels, conduct regular stock audits, and request replenishment as needed to prevent shortages.
  • Flagging Visual Merchandising Errors or missing parts, collaborating with the VM team to ensure displays meet company standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with store & department managers to ensure smooth store operations and ongoing communication.
Internal:

  • Work within company travel and expense budgets, following established guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain excellent communication with field sales partners, store management, and the training department.
  • Ability to travel 60-75% of the time.

Profile

Position Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience working in the field as an Area Manager or in Education /Events would be an advantage.
Experience managing large teams and high-profile flagship accounts is an advantage.
Experience in delivering coaching sessions at the counter level.
Confident and engaging communicator and presenter - Face to face & virtually.
High level of artistry attainment and experience within the retail beauty sector.
Passionate, enthusiastic, and inspirational.
High-level attention to detail and accuracy in execution of work and tasks.
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Good understanding and awareness of all social media platforms.
Ability to create/edit video content is an advantage.
Flexibility and the ability to travel with overnight stays.
